Main function:
SeBCON works by analyzing the injector duty cycle to know always the exact engine load. This makes it possible to provide the boost control valve with a separate value for every engine load point. Analyzing the injector duty cycle gives a much better throttle control then a conventional system which gives always maximum boost, even if you don’t need the boost. The flow of a Air-Mass-Meter is also included into the calculation of the engine load, the weighting is 2/3 injector duty cycle and 1/3 Air-Mass-Meter signal. This mixed mode makes it possible to get a better throttle response (the AMM is the first device which sees an increase in airflow). There is also a binary available which integrates only the injector duty cycle signal, this Version is slightly smoother.
Preferred solenoids are real 3-way valves to adjust the wastegate-pressure between 0-100%.
If there is a problem with the boost level, e.g. to much boost at 3000rpm, than it’s possible to reprogramme the box. There is a map with boost values in % which can be modified easily. The map goes from 1100 up to 7000 in steps from 100rpm, every step contains a %-value which can be modified. The box can be reprogrammed with a pc within a few minutes. But SeBCON is preprogrammed, that means Plug-n-Drive.
Knock detection works adaptive and self-controlled. After a knock ocours, SeBCON adjusts the boost in that way, that it will store per every 100rpm the maximum of boost which can be run savely. If the target boost value is higher than the as save considered value, the save value will be used insteed. While knock ocours the boost will be corrected 5 times per second, downward in steps to 0.010-0.015bar.
But to make one thing clear, the real knock detection must be realized with an externel tool or by using a existing knock modul like e.g. the Bosch EZK116 ignition box, SeBCON uses a existing signal to control the boost - SeBCON has no own input (not at this time) for a knock sensor.
The source code is free available to make it for everybody possible to tune up the box. The compiler and the flash software is also free available. SeBCON has 3 more analog/digital converter free, this makes it possible to connect some kind of additional sensors to the box.
