Features
of SeBCON:
- Easy to use electronic boost controller
- PWM output, 0-100%, solenoid frequency adjustable for different types
of solenoids
- Works with both, internal and external wastegates
- Two adjustable boost levels - standard and overboost
- Connection for an external potentiometer to adjust the boost
(overwrites the internal settings, if higher)
- Input for knock detection, uses e.g. the knock abilities of a BOSCH
EZ116K/EZ117K System
- Input from throttle-switch (WOT-Switch)
- Input RPM signal (KL.1)
- Input for 'Max-Load' signal, e.g. from a pressure switch or a AMM
(switch or variable voltage)
- Input for 'Load' signal, e.g. from a AMM (switch or variable voltage)
- Best suited for Volvo B23/B230FT's with LH2.2 and LH2.4 systems, or
any kind of P2-regulated Turbo's
- Compact size (105mm x 110mm x 29mm)
Main functions:
SeBCON can run in a 'Small Enviroment' mode, this means that SeBCON
needs a rpm or a throttle signal to generate boost.
If SeBCON get's a rpm signal, boost will raise up to the adjusted
level, also when SeBCON get's a throttle signal.
The rpm and the throttle signal can be combined to work together, more
boost at the adjusted rpm or on WOT. The
overboost mode can be used also in this 'small enviroment', e.g. with
the rpm signal SeBCON can switch behind 3500rpm
to the standard level and the WOT signal raises the boost up to the
overboost level.
Additional functions:
- Auto function
- Overboost
- Max-Load function
- Knock function
- External Potentiometer
Auto function:
The 'Auto' function uses the 'Load Input' to work with this signal. The
Load Input needs a signal which represents the load
of the engine. One convenient signal as Load Input is e.g the signal
from an Air-Mass-Meter (AMM) because this signal stands
in direct relation to the engine load. SeBCON uses this signal to
increase boost linear to the load signal. The higher the
load signal, the higher the boost, up to the maximum adjusted boost.
This function try's to balance between good power and
economic drivability. If you don't need boost because of a low engine
load (even on high rpm), you won't get the boost,
but the function wait's for your throttle-signal, SeBCON is so to say
'online'. This is the prefered mode of the
box, here you will get the best drivability. This Function is directly
linked to the rpm-function, the onset-rpm must be
set on which the Auto function will be activated. Below the onset-rpm
the boost is on stock values to get the
factory-drivability of the car (consumption). It is also possible to
combine the Overboost function with the Auto function.
With a factory boost from 0.5Bar and a maximum boost set to 1bar you
will gain a very smooth running engine, just as if you
have added more cylinder capacity. With a intelligently configured Auto
function you will not have a big bang when boost comes up.
Overboost function:
The name is program. The Overboost mode can be activated with a
switched ground-signal on the Throttle-Input.
The Overboost is separately adjustable from the normal boost level.
It's not time limited, as long this switch is active and
nobody else has a objection (Engine Knocking or Max-Load) against this
boost level, it will be online.
Max-Load(ML) function:
Your ride is e.g. a overboosted Volvo 940 with a stock LH2.4 ECU? Than
you know what it means to have an fuel-cut!
I will explain the 'Max-Load' function:
The ML-function does not eliminate the fuel-cut, but it deals with the
fuel-cut. SeBCON has a circuit which lowers the
boost when the ML-signal reaches an adjustable level. One convenient
signal as ML-Input is e.g the signal from
an Air-Mass-Meter (AMM) because this signal stands in direct relation
to the engine load. If you use this signal as ML-Signal,
it's regardless which rpm, gear or throttle position the engine has, if
the signal reaches the definded level, SeBCON will
beginn to lower the bosst exactly about the amount to get the engine
load under the threshold (close-loop). Please have a look at the
diagram, there you can see how the ML-function works. It's also
possible to use a simple pressure switch which gives a 12Volt signal as
threshold. Possible input signals are voltages from 1-12Volt or a
switch to any voltage greater than 1Volt.
Knock function:
This function uses the Knock-Input to lower the boost. The signal must
be a ground signal or +12Volt (<0.7Volt or >10Volt).
One convenient signal as Knock-Input is e.g the signal from a Bosch
EZ116K / EZ117K Ignition Unit which has already knock-sense
abilitys. There are several third party knock-sense Moduls on the
market which can be used, as long as they deliver the specified signal.
At a later time I will develop an separately knock sense modul for
SeBCON.
External Potentiometer:
I don't know the english word but in german we call this function
'Dampfrad'. It's possible to mount a external Poti anywhere
in the car and adjust the boost via this poti. This poti overwrites the
adjusted internal boost or overboost settings
as far as the internal settings are not already at the maximum boost.
The Poti is linked to the Knock and Max-Load input.
